I am quite impressed by the quality of the Brooks running shoes I bought late last year. I bought a pair of The Beast.
They're quite sturdy. My feet feel good in them. The only bad part about that is that I wear them everywhere I go, which probably shortened their actual running life.
I guess I'll need to buy a new pair pretty soon. At that time, I hope these old ones will still be comfortable, so I can keep wearing them during normal activities. That will save me some money, because then I can save my new shoes for actual running, because of continuing to use the older pair for daily activities. This will make the running pair last longer.
If you already have comfortable daily shoes, then keep your running shoes for running.
I just realized from the Brooks site that they don't have any retailers in The Philippines. This makes it all the more urgent I conserve my next pair of Brooks Beast I buy, because I won't be able to buy another pair once I'm staying full time in The Philippines, which is my goal.

I see that Big River Running Company is on their online list of retailers. That's where I bought my current pair, and where I'll buy my next pair. The clerk was a serious and experienced runner himself, so we talked about running a lot, beyond just my feet and their needs. If you live anywhere in the St Louis area, I urge you to visit that store for your running shoes and other running needs. They took a lot of time to make sure I got the right shoes. He had me try on three or four pairs of different kinds to make sure. I could have bought one pair that were cheaper than the Beast -- they did fit me well too -- but in the end I went with the most durable shoe, and I'm glad of that, because I'll be running in them in about thirty minutes or so.
The Brooks company comes across as very interested in running and in being responsible to their customers and everyone else. Their name is not as sexy and flashy as some of the others. I guess they're not paying a big name athletic a billion dollars to endorse them, but then runners are not famous athletes, and that's their focus -- not basketball shoes that almost nobody will actually wear to play basketball, but running shoes for actual runners, not fashion. Not for make believe types.
Brooks running shoes should be high on your list of shoe brands to check out when you're buying running shoes.
